Stakeholders from across Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State have reaffirmed their support for the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in 2027, citing his administration’s people-centered policies and developmental strides across the state.
The declaration was made during a gathering of leaders and representatives drawn from the education, religious, political, artisan, and cultural sectors of the community.
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Chief Simon Eze commended Governor Mbah’s recent decision to abolish the N750 daily ticket fee previously paid by tricycle operators and extend their operational hours from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., describing the measures as timely interventions that would ease economic pressure on many families.
According to Eze, the policy reflects the governor’s commitment to addressing the everyday challenges faced by residents, especially low-income earners who rely on commercial tricycle operations for their livelihood.
He noted that scrapping the daily ticket charge would increase the disposable income of operators, improve their standard of living, and provide relief amid prevailing economic realities.
“The governor has once again demonstrated that he understands the needs of ordinary people. This decision will positively impact thousands of operators and their families while supporting economic activities across communities,” Eze said.
He added that the extension of operational hours would enhance business opportunities for transport workers and improve mobility for residents, particularly traders, artisans, and other participants in the informal sector.
Eze further stated that the governor’s responsiveness to public concerns has strengthened confidence in his administration and contributed significantly to the growing support he enjoys across the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The people can see tangible evidence of leadership that listens and responds. Policies that directly improve lives naturally earn the trust and support of the masses,” he added.
The stakeholders maintained that their endorsement of Governor Mbah was based on a careful assessment of his performance and achievements rather than political considerations alone.
They also praised the administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, security, education, transportation, and economic transformation, stressing that the governor’s accomplishments have continued to resonate with communities across Enugu State.
Reaffirming their commitment to mobilizing support for the governor, the stakeholders expressed confidence that a renewed mandate would enable his administration to consolidate on the gains already recorded and sustain the pace of development across the state.
