Residents of Kuje-Amuwo have welcomed a new wave of development as the Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Rasaq Akorede Olojede, officially flagged off the construction of road and drainage infrastructure on Ebun Olojede Street.
The 305-metre project, which includes both road pavement and drainage channels, was initiated in direct response to long-standing appeals from residents for improved access and a lasting solution to perennial flooding in the community.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Olojede described the project as a milestone in his administration’s commitment to delivering people-centered infrastructure.
“This project is a direct response to the yearnings of our people. As your Executive Chairman, I remain committed to translating your needs into tangible, quality infrastructure that stands the test of time. A well-connected and flood-free community is key to improving the quality of life for our residents,” he said.
The Chairman emphasized that the road and drainage works would ease movement, boost local economic activities, and address erosion challenges that have plagued the street for years. He appealed to residents for patience and cooperation during the construction period, assuring them that the project would be delivered on schedule and to standard.
Community members present at the event commended Hon. Olojede for fulfilling his promise, noting that the intervention would bring significant relief to homeowners, motorists, and pedestrians in Kuje-Amuwo. They expressed optimism that the project would not only improve accessibility but also enhance the overall aesthetics and safety of the neighborhood.
The flag-off marks another step in Oriade LCDA’s broader agenda to provide sustainable infrastructure and improve living conditions across its communities.
