Oriade LCDA Launches Child and Adolescent Health Week, Emphasizes “Health is Wealth”

The Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Rasaq Akorede Olojede has officially commenced the Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health Week Programme, reaffirming grassroots governance commitment to safeguarding the wellbeing of its youngest citizens.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, council officials highlighted the importance of prioritizing healthcare for children and adolescents, stressing that a healthy population is the foundation of sustainable development. The initiative, themed “Health is Wealth”, seeks to provide essential medical services, health education, and preventive care to families across the community.

The week-long programme will feature immunization drives to protect newborns and young children against preventable diseases; Nutritional support including vitamin supplementation and growth monitoring; Adolescent health education sessions focusing on hygiene, reproductive heal; Community outreach to ensure that even underserved households benefit from the programme.

The Council Chairman emphasized that investing in child and adolescent health is not only a moral responsibility but also an economic strategy. “When we say health is wealth, we mean that a healthy generation is the true capital of any society,” he noted.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to take advantage of the services provided during the week, as the LCDA partners with healthcare professionals and volunteers to deliver quality care at designated centers.
