As the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, marks its 50th anniversary, a groundbreaking book chronicling its journey is set to be unveiled in Lagos.
Titled Ohanaeze at 50: The Burden of Memory, The Politics of Relevance, the book is authored by Agbeze Ireke Kalu Onuma (AI-KO) and promises to tell the unvarnished story of the institution — its triumphs, struggles, politics, and enduring fight for relevance in Nigeria’s complex national landscape.
The public presentation will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Dover Hotel, Ikeja (14 Aromire Street, off Adeniyi Jones).
A Story Finally Told
For the first time, the full narrative of Ohanaeze’s 50-year history will be documented in one volume. The book is expected to shed light on whispered names, unanswered questions, and pivotal moments that have shaped the organization’s role in Nigeria’s socio-political evolution.
