The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, has urged Nigerians to turn to God in prayer as the nation grapples with persistent insecurity challenges.
Speaking with journalists after a courtesy visit to the Benue State Government House, Pastor Kumuyi emphasized that divine intervention remains crucial in restoring peace and stability across the country. He noted that while government and security agencies continue to make efforts, the collective spiritual commitment of citizens is equally vital in overcoming the crisis.
The visit was part of activities marking the week-long Global Crusade organized by the ministry in Gboko and Otukpo Local Government Areas of Benue State. Pastor Kumuyi was received by the Deputy Governor, Sam Ode, who represented Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Pastor Kumuyi encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope, stressing that with faith, unity, and reliance on God, the nation can surmount its current challenges. He added that the crusade aims to inspire renewed trust in God’s power to heal the land and bring lasting peace.
According to the renowned cleric, God remains the ultimate solution to the nation’s challenges.
“We know that, when bad things happen, there are people who are responsible for it, but the people are not the solution. God is our problem solver.”
He added: “God is waiting for us. He said, ‘If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and turn away from their sins,’ He is ready to solve their problems.”
Kumuyi noted that the week-long Global Crusade in Gboko and Otukpo is one way of encouraging people to return to God and seek His help.
The cleric also applauded the progress recorded in Benue State, saying: “Benue is making remarkable progress in infrastructure and education, despite visible challenges around insecurity.”
Speaking during the visit, the Deputy Governor, Sam Ode, said Benue is richly endowed with agricultural and human resources, adding that the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia remains committed to building a peaceful, united and inclusive state where everyone can thrive.
The week-long Global Crusade in Gboko and Otukpo comes on the heels of Benue State’s 50th anniversary celebration, during which the government called on citizens to embrace peace and reconciliation.
Benue is among the states hardest hit by insecurity in recent years, with repeated attacks on communities by armed assailants forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes. Many displaced persons are still living in camps across the state, while the government and security agencies continue efforts to restore peace and facilitate the return of affected communities.
