The forthcoming launch of the Working People’s Podcast is drawing growing attention from Nigeria’s labour, policy, and political communities, as two influential figures, Comrade Issa Aremu, Director-General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), and Comrade Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), paid separate high-profile visits to the headquarters of Working People United (WoPU) ahead of the platform’s official unveiling next week.

According to statements received by Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com), both labour leaders were received by the Coordinator-General of WoPU, Comrade (Prince) Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, alongside other officials and stakeholders of the coalition. Their visits provided an opportunity for extensive discussions on the future of Nigeria’s labour movement, workers’ welfare, democratic participation, and the role of strategic communication in shaping national development.

The engagements were conducted in a cordial and forward-looking atmosphere marked by mutual respect, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to advancing the interests of working people across the country.

During the discussions, Akporeha highlighted WoPU’s vision of building a broad-based platform that brings together workers, labour leaders, policymakers, professionals, and citizens to promote constructive dialogue, civic engagement, and nation-building.

The presence of both Aremu and Akinsanya was widely viewed as a significant endorsement of WoPU’s growing influence and its efforts to create a credible platform for amplifying the voices of workers and ordinary Nigerians. Their visits also underscored the importance of collaboration among labour stakeholders in promoting policies and initiatives that support economic growth, social justice, and sustainable national development.

WoPU expressed appreciation for the goodwill and support demonstrated by the distinguished visitors, noting that their engagement has further strengthened preparations for the official launch of the Working People’s Podcast, which is expected to become a leading platform for conversations on governance, labour relations, workers’ welfare, public policy, and Nigeria’s future.

According to the organization, the podcast is designed to serve as a strategic media platform where critical national issues can be examined through informed, balanced, and solution-driven discussions. It is expected to feature labour leaders, policymakers, academics, professionals, public servants, and other stakeholders whose perspectives can enrich public discourse and contribute to national development.

During his visit, MINILS Director-General, Comrade Issa Aremu, toured the podcast studio and expressed enthusiasm for the initiative. He also confirmed his readiness to attend the official launch ceremony, a development many observers regard as a significant boost to the project given his longstanding contributions to labour education, workers’ advocacy, and public policy discourse.

Aremu’s engagement with the WoPU leadership centered on the future of Nigeria, the importance of labour advocacy, and the need for credible platforms capable of fostering informed debate on issues affecting millions of workers across the country.

In a separate engagement, NURTW leader Comrade Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) also toured the podcast facility and shared his views on the nation’s political and economic direction. He used the occasion to urge Nigerians and workers nationwide to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, arguing that continuity in leadership is essential for sustaining ongoing reforms, political stability, and national development.

His remarks added a political dimension to the conversations surrounding the podcast’s launch and reflected the growing interest among labour-oriented stakeholders in shaping national discourse ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Despite approaching the visit from different perspectives, both leaders emphasized the importance of dialogue, engagement, and collective participation in the pursuit of a better Nigeria. Their separate visits reinforced a common belief that constructive conversations and inclusive stakeholder participation are vital to addressing the nation’s challenges and unlocking its opportunities.

As anticipation builds ahead of next week’s launch, the Working People’s Podcast is rapidly positioning itself as more than a media initiative. It is emerging as a meeting point for ideas, advocacy, public engagement, and nation-building, bringing together diverse voices united by a common vision of a more prosperous, equitable, and inclusive Nigeria.

With endorsements and support from some of the country’s most prominent labour and grassroots leaders, the platform’s debut is expected to mark a significant milestone in WoPU’s mission to champion workers’ interests, stimulate meaningful national conversations, and strengthen citizen participation in shaping Nigeria’s future, particularly as attention gradually turns toward the 2027 general elections.
