The President of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), on Sunday May 17, 2026 led the members and staff of the Union to God in a special thanksgiving service over his recent victory at the Union’s 6th quadrennial delegates conference veracitydesk.com can confirm.
The elated President recalled with gratitude to God, how he started his journey in the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) Branch of NUPENG, how he rose to become Zonal Chairman and how he subsequently became the National Chairman of PTD.
He also reminisced how God helped him to succeed in transforming the Branch and pushing the frontiers, opening various chains of lucrative business opportunities for the drivers and making their welfare and wellbeing a priority.
The President equally used the epochal and auspicious occasion to highlight how God used numerous people within the Union to make his dream a profound reality, stressing that it has been God all the way, hence the reason for the thanksgiving. He further appreciated God for the story of his life which is one of grace and mercies of God, saying, “I am living proof of grace and mercy. I feel so fulfilled and elated in the presence of God and that is why I will continue to return to God in special thanksgiving, because He deserves it.”
Comrade Oladiti amidst jubilant congregrants was in company of his wife, Evangelist Olanike Oladiti (JP), as well as members from various branches of the Union in both formal and informal sectors of NUPENG, his children, grand children, mentees, well-wishers, business associates, protégés, as well as the Union’s National Security Coordinator, Comrade Gbolahan Saheed Adigun who doubles as Chairman, Lagos Zone of PTD.
He also extolled the virtues of his predecessor, Williams Akporeha as well as Comrade (Hon) Joseph Iranola Akinlaja (former General Secretary of NUPENG) he often call his mentor. He extended similar appreciation to the former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko who was also physically present.
Dr Olusegun Mimiko while responding to Comrade Oladiti described him as a quintessential leader who has a date with destiny and always ready and willing to add value to everyone around him without discrimination or prejudice.
Akinlaja on his part while speaking on the podium appreciated God in Oladiti’s life stressing that they’ve been friends since 1975 and that the relationship is getting stronger and healthier every day. He prayed for Oladiti’s successful tenure as President.
The thanksgiving service which took place at the Christ Apostolic Church Oke Isegun Igbalalolu, along new Ife road, Ibadan had Pastor Michael Adekunle Falowo delivering a very striking sermon which he themed “Who made you differ?” (“Ta leni to mu o yatọ?).
The man of God emphasised that human understanding, knowledge and wisdom cannot make them succeed but only God. He however rebuked the spirt of pride, adding that it has ruined many people in life.
Pastor Falowo referenced Saul in the Bible who spent 40 years on the throne, but only 2 years were recorded for him due to pride. According to the preacher people knew Saul as King but God despised him because of arrogance. He however advised Comrade Oladiti to continue to appreciate God in thanksgiving and put God in all that he will do as President of blue-collar oil and gas workers.
Meanwhile the immediate past President of NUPENG, Comrade Williams Akporeha praised his successor, Comrade Oladiti, highlighting his loyalty, resilience, and wealth of experience as a former National Chairman of the PTD Branch. He prayed for him to succeed just as he assured him of his unalloyed support.
Reacting to Pastor’s sermon Oladiti said, “This is the new NUPENG, we shall continue to work together under the atmosphere of peace, progress, unity and harmony, and ultimately take the Union to greater heights. I will not disappoint you all, but will bring to life all my promises while also putting God first in all that I do. The pastor message was very apt and reflective of what has always been my guiding principle.”
On the roll call of dignitaries who were present at the thanksgiving service were Acting General Secretary of NUPENG Comrade Otite Onohwohwo, National Chairman of PTD Comrade Mathias Otasukporo Ote, former DGS of NUPENG (Finance and Accounts) Comrade Anthony Chukwu, Comrade Comrade Vincent Ukhuakhua, members of National Executive Council (NEC) of NUPENG, key chieftains of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to mention a few.
A banquet was also organized after the church thanksgiving service and there was enough to eat and drink with a live band elevating the event by creating an electric atmosphere, encouraging audience participation, and adapting to the room’s energy in real time.
