A former National Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Comrade Adamu Song, has stated that his support for Mohammed Hayatu-Deen’s 2027 presidential ambition is based on the candidate’s detribalised outlook and proven experience to steer Nigeria out of its current economic and security challenges.

Hayatu-Deen, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and an accomplished banker, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His campaign has consistently prioritised addressing Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and economic instability.

In a statement personally signed on Monday, Comrade Song highlighted Hayatu-Deen’s experience, leadership capacity, and resilience as key attributes that position him as a strong contender in the 2027 presidential race.

Song, who also served as the former General Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), described Hayatu-Deen’s leadership and vision as “essential assets for revitalising Nigeria’s economy.” He noted that Hayatu-Deen’s track record in both the private and public sectors demonstrates his capacity to drive economic liberalisation, attract investment, and create jobs.

He further emphasised Hayatu-Deen’s ability to build relationships across Nigeria’s diverse regions, describing him as a unifying figure capable of bridging ethnic, religious, and political divides.

According to Song, Hayatu-Deen’s broad national appeal will foster inclusivity, progress, and shared prosperity, while delivering meaningful solutions to the challenges facing vulnerable segments of society.

“A Hayatu-Deen presidency will usher in significant advancements in investment, infrastructure, and security, ultimately revitalising Nigeria’s struggling economy,” he said.

Song also noted that Hayatu-Deen’s reputation as a detribalised Nigerian positions him as a leader capable of easing longstanding ethnic and religious tensions that have shaped the country’s political landscape.

He stressed the need for unity among opposition parties, cautioning that any coalition lacking a clearly defined shared purpose would be ineffective.

Comrade Song urged Nigerians to rally behind Hayatu-Deen’s candidacy, citing the urgent need for credible, selfless, and competent leadership to restore economic stability. He described Hayatu-Deen as the most suitable candidate for Nigeria’s highest office.

He added that the 2027 presidential election represents a critical turning point for the country, and Nigerians must seize the opportunity for transformational leadership.
Song pointed out that Hayatu-Deen’s private sector experience and technocratic background uniquely position him to transition Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy to a production-based economy, thereby strengthening local industries and enhancing national productivity.

He further stated that Hayatu-Deen possesses the capacity to reform intelligence coordination among security agencies, establish a dedicated terrorism court, and effectively address threats to Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

“His consistent advocacy for strong, independent institutions over ‘strongman’ leadership is a defining quality that can reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth and democratic stability,” Song remarked.

Song also commended Hayatu-Deen’s tenure as Managing Director of the Northern Nigeria Development Corporation (NNDC), describing it as marked by impactful and commendable achievements. He noted that the organisation plays a vital role in advancing economic recovery, industrialisation, and human capital development across the 19 Northern states.

He expressed confidence that Hayatu-Deen’s performance in higher office would surpass previous accomplishments, describing him as a leader with the vision and capability to deliver national transformation.

Describing Hayatu-Deen as a quiet yet principled individual with integrity and dignity, Song said these qualities would serve as a strong foundation for restoring Nigeria’s lost glory.

He concluded by urging party delegates to consider Hayatu-Deen as the preferred presidential candidate, expressing optimism that his emergence would galvanise public support and secure victory in the 2027 general election.
