Abuja-based human rights lawyer and spokesperson for the Ademola Adeleke Governorship Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has described his surprise 40th birthday celebration as “profoundly humbling” and “truly unforgettable.”
Olajengbesi, who turned 40 on August 12th—just three days before the tense Osun State Governorship Election—revealed that his milestone birthday was the last thing on his mind as he navigated the challenges of the campaign. “I had quietly assumed that my 40th would be celebrated some other time,” he said.
Unknown to him, family and friends had orchestrated a grand celebration just a week after the election. “I remain amazed that an event of such magnitude could be put together without the slightest hint reaching me,” Olajengbesi remarked, praising the sacrifices and commitment of those who made the evening possible.
He expressed deep gratitude to Governor Ademola Adeleke for the honour and affection shown, and to everyone who conceived and planned the surprise. “Above all, I thank Almighty God for the precious gift of life and for the gift of men. Forty years have taught me that both are expressions of grace that must never be taken for granted,” he added.
The lawyer, known for his advocacy and political engagement, concluded with heartfelt appreciation: “Thank you for making my 40th birthday truly unforgettable.”
