Chief Simon Eze, a prominent stakeholder in Akpugo, Nkanu West Local Government Area, and a strong supporter of Governor Peter Mbah’s reelection bid in 2027, has publicly commended the Governor for his firm stance on constitutional reforms aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of state policing.
According to Chief Eze, Governor Mbah’s contributions on Thursday, July 9, 2027 at the Arise News Townhall on Building a National Consensus for State Police and National Security projected Enugu State in a positive light and underscored his commitment to advancing national security through pragmatic reforms.
This was contained in a statement issued by Chief Eze on Monday and circulated to journalists through both mainstream and digital media platforms.
Chief Simon Eze praised Governor Peter Mbah’s remarks on the need for constitutional clarity and intergovernmental collaboration to ensure that state policing functions effectively and efficiently. He described the Governor’s position as visionary and quintessential, reflecting a deep commitment to pragmatic governance.
According to Governor Mbah, sustainable economic development at the subnational level cannot be achieved without clearly defined roles between state and federal authorities. He further emphasized that funding must be properly addressed to prevent disruption of other critical economic priorities.
Chief Eze noted his agreement with the Governor’s assertion that Nigeria’s current policing model is inadequate in the face of escalating security threats.
He highlighted Mbah’s description of security as “the biggest elephant in the room,” stressing that the burden is immense and requires urgent action. He commended the Governor for giving equal attention to both economic growth and security in Enugu State, underscoring his proactive leadership in tackling these pressing challenges.
Eze on behalf of the entire stakeholders in Akpugo also reiterated that there is no going back in giving their 100 percent support to the incumbent Governor for what he described as the far-reaching transformation of Enugu State through strategic investments in human capital development, infrastructure, healthcare, education, security and economic expansion.
Chief Simon Eze, a Lagos-based entrepreneur and owner of Seamark Electric Plc and Golden Tree Hotel in Satellite Town, highlighted the growing impact of Governor Peter Mbah’s policies and programmes across Enugu State. He noted that communities in Nkanu West LGA, in particular, are witnessing tangible improvements in road infrastructure, healthcare services, educational facilities, and expanded economic opportunities.
His remarks come amid increasing commendations from stakeholders and institutions in Akpugo, who recently emphasized the Governor’s substantial investments in education, primary healthcare, security, both physical and digital, and infrastructure development. These initiatives, they observed, represent a turning point in the state’s progress and transformation.
Reacting to the administration’s performance, Chief Simon Eze observed that Governor Peter Mbah has demonstrated exceptional political will in advancing developmental initiatives designed to establish a sustainable foundation for future generations.
He emphasized that the Governor’s strategic commitment to channeling significant resources into education, including the construction of Smart Green Schools, ward‑based healthcare centres, road infrastructure, and a robust security framework, has redefined the standards of governance in Enugu State.
“Governor Peter Mbah has shown that governance is ultimately about measurable impact on the lives of the people. Across Enugu State, and particularly within Nkanu West LGA, citizens are witnessing a deliberate and coordinated effort to bridge developmental gaps that had existed for years,” he said.
“What distinguishes this administration is its emphasis on both physical infrastructure and human capital development. Roads open communities for economic activities but investments in education, healthcare and skills development create the human capacity required to sustain growth,” he said.
Chief Simon Eze further noted that Governor Peter Mbah’s vision of positioning Enugu as a leading hub for investment and innovation is steadily taking shape through ongoing reforms and strategic projects implemented across the state’s 260 wards.
He expressed confidence that the synergy between effective governance at the state level and quality representation in the National Assembly would accelerate development, not only in Nkanu West LGA but across the entire state.
