The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has dispelled concerns over an alleged terror threat at Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki.

The clarification came on Wednesday during an on-the-spot security assessment at the institution, following the circulation of a viral video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forested area near the campus.

The visit, prompted by heightened public anxiety, was aimed at reassuring stakeholders and strengthening surveillance around the university and its environs. During the assessment, CP Jimoh met with the school’s management and emphasized the importance of continually reinforcing the institution’s security architecture to prevent potential threats.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State, assuring students, staff, and parents of the police’s readiness to respond swiftly to any security concerns.

In support of these efforts, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) announced the deployment of surveillance drones to enhance aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering, and crime prevention in the area.

CP Jimoh further urged the university to maintain close collaboration with security agencies, adopt proactive measures such as perimeter protection and access control, and remain vigilant against emerging challenges. He encouraged members of the university community to promptly report suspicious activities, stressing that collective vigilance is key to sustaining safety.

The Command reiterated its resolve to uphold peace and public safety across the state, urging residents to remain security-conscious and make use of its emergency lines to report incidents or unusual movements.
