Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday inspected the Alakija Bridge along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway corridor after vandals attempted to damage part of the structure.

In a statement, the Governor reassured residents that the bridge remains safe and structurally sound. “Let me reassure Lagosians that the bridge is safe, structurally sound and ready for use. There is no cause for alarm,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu commended the swift response of security agencies, including the Police, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Task Force, Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), and the Neighbourhood Safety Corps, who secured the area and arrested some suspects.

He emphasized that those responsible will face justice. “Anyone who attempts to destroy public infrastructure in Lagos will face the full force of the law,” he warned.

The Governor also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve the Lagos-Badagry Expressway corridor, noting that the clean-up operations are already yielding visible results.

He urged residents to play their part in safeguarding public assets. “We all have a role to play in keeping Lagos safe and protecting what belongs to all of us,” he added.
