GoNigeria, a non-partisan civic initiative of the Anap Foundation, is intensifying its campaign to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy through informed advocacy and active citizen participation.
Since the last general election, millions of Nigerians have turned 18, making them eligible to register and vote for the first time. This unprecedented wave of new voters represents a transformative force in shaping the nation’s democratic future. Mobilizing their participation is the central focus of GoNigeria’s current drive.
The call to action was issued in a statement signed by Convener Atedo Peterside, CON, on behalf of GoNigeria.
The initiative is further supported by 24 distinguished advocates, including Abubakar Siddique Mohammed, Aisha Yesufu, Arunma Oteh, Ayisha Osori, Obonganwan Barbara Etim James, Binta Max Gbinije, Dike Chukwumerije, Dudu Mamman Manuga, Folarin Falana (Falz), Hamzat Lawal, Ibrahim Dahiru Waziri, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, Bishop Matthew Kukah, CON, Muhammad Ali Pate, HH Muhammad Sanusi II (Emir of Kano), Ngozi Coker, Nuruddeen Lemu, Osita Chidoka, Salamatu Hussaini Suleiman, Sola Akinyede, OON, Tomiwa Aladekomo, Tony Rapu, and Yemi Adamolekun.
As the nation prepares for the 2027 general elections, GoNigeria has further launched a nationwide voter education and awareness drive across multiple states. The campaign carries a single, urgent message: Register before voter registration closes on Friday, 24 July 2026.
Through its flagship “Collect Your Power” campaign, GoNigeria emphasizes that voting is one of the most effective ways for citizens to make their voices heard. Registration is the essential first step.
The call to young Nigerians is clear: your participation matters, and your power begins with your registration.
To reach this new generation of voters, GoNigeria is conducting campus tours across tertiary institutions, providing students with practical guidance on how to register and answering their questions directly. In addition, the initiative is partnering with media outlets, civic ambassadors, community organizations, and digital platforms to ensure registration information is widely accessible and to encourage peaceful, informed participation.
While voter registration is the immediate priority, GoNigeria’s mission extends far beyond the upcoming deadline. Its advocacy is anchored on four foundational pillars; Electoral reform – strengthening processes to ensure free, fair, and credible elections, Freedom of speech – protecting the right of citizens to express their views without fear, Judicial reform – building a justice system that is independent, fair, and accessible and Security of life and property – ensuring citizens live in safety under institutions they can trust.
These pillars reflect GoNigeria’s recognition that democracy is not sustained by elections alone, but by strong institutions, protected rights, and accountable governance. Engagement across these areas will continue well beyond the registration deadline.
GoNigeria remains firmly non-partisan, supporting no political party or candidate. Its message is directed to every eligible Nigerian aged 18 and above who has not yet registered:
