Stakeholders in Akpugo, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, have renewed their pledge to support the re-election bid of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in the 2027 general elections.

This reaffirmation comes as Chief Simon Eze extended campaign activities to major Igbo-dominated markets in Lagos, including Alaba International Market, Trade Fair International Market, and Ladipo Market.

Chief Eze explained that the decision to take the campaign beyond Enugu was strategic, aimed at engaging the large Igbo community in Lagos who maintain strong ties with their kinsmen back home. He emphasized that mobilizing support in these markets would help amplify Governor Mbah’s achievements and ensure a landslide victory in 2027.

Speaking with political correspondents on Saturday, Chief Eze described the Akpugo movement as a departure from traditional support groups. He noted that it is rooted in organic mobilisation, data-driven engagement, and deliberate inclusion of young voices, while maintaining synergy with established party structures.

“The people here are genuinely committed to working for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in 2027. Unlike in the past where some support groups showed diluted commitment, this movement is deliberate, structured, and single-minded in purpose,” Eze said.

He stressed that the campaign is inclusive, ensuring that no one is sidelined, and highlighted the importance of engaging young people who need a voice in the political process.

Chief Eze, who is the owner of Golden Tree Hotel and Seamark Electric Plc, further underscored that the movement is built on genuine conviction rather than artificial mobilisation. He dismissed criticisms from the opposition, insisting that Governor Mbah’s record in infrastructure, security, education, and economic development speaks for itself.

He pointed to ongoing projects such as road infrastructure upgrades, improved security measures, Smart Green Schools, and Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres as evidence of the governor’s commitment to sustainable development.

“Our people recognise performance. The governor has demonstrated passion and good intention in driving development across the state, and we stand ready to support him. Taking the campaign to Alaba, Trade Fair, and Ladipo markets is strategic because these hubs represent a large concentration of our kinsmen, many of whom will return home to vote and influence their loved ones in 2027,” he added.

Chief Eze also urged stakeholders across Enugu State to prioritize voter sensitisation and structured mobilisation, stressing the need to effectively communicate the administration’s achievements.

“This is a model support group – inclusive, purposeful, and performance-driven. The focus must remain on engaging the people, explaining the impact of governance, and mobilising support based on results,” he said.

He concluded by noting that the movement represents the beginning of a more coordinated effort to deepen grassroots engagement and expand the reach of Governor Mbah’s achievements across communities in Enugu State.
