Spain has been crowned champions of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, securing a 1–0 victory over defending champions Argentina in extra time at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey.
Ferran Torres netted the decisive goal in the 105th minute, sealing Spain’s second World Cup triumph and completing a historic double following their Euro 2024 success.
La Roja controlled much of the first half but struggled to convert chances, while Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina failed to register a single shot on target. Defender Lisandro Martínez was forced off in the 44th minute due to injury and replaced by Nicolás Otamendi.
The final also featured a star-studded halftime show, with performances from Madonna, Shakira, Burna Boy, Justin Bieber, and other global artists.
Spain maintained their dominance after the break, pressing relentlessly, and were eventually rewarded with Torres’ extra-time strike that secured football’s most prestigious trophy.
