Renowned Nollywood actor and scholar, Kola Oyewo, has passed away at the age of 80.
His death was confirmed by fellow actor Kunle Afod, who shared the news in an emotional Instagram post.
Afod wrote: “Tonight, we lost a true legend. Kola Oyewo has taken his final bow. His remarkable talent, timeless performances, and immense contributions to the Nigerian theatre and film industry will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. Rest well, sir. Your work lives on. It’s a wrap.”
Oyewo, celebrated for his distinguished career in film and theatre, recently marked his 80th birthday in March 2026.
He had been battling health challenges in recent months.
His passing marks the end of an era, but his artistry and influence will continue to resonate across generations.
