The Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to designate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign in preparation for the 2027 elections.
The group said Wike’s political acumen, grassroots credibility, courage and ability to engage diverse interests made him well suited to coordinate the party’s campaign and mobilise support for the President’s re-election bid.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Hon. Haruna Bature, the group said Wike had demonstrated the capacity to navigate Nigeria’s complex political environment while maintaining strong connections with people at the grassroots.
It said the former Rivers State governor could effectively communicate the achievements and programmes of the Tinubu administration to Nigerians, stressing that his political sagacity would be valuable in taking the Renewed Hope Agenda to communities across the country.
According to the group, Wike’s leadership qualities include an inclusive style, a peaceful disposition, accountability, street credibility and a down-to-earth relationship with ordinary Nigerians, qualities it said had helped promote the image of the Tinubu administration.
The Arewa youths also commended Wike’s performance as FCT Minister, saying his implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda had brought significant development to different parts of the nation’s capital.
It noted that Wike had opened up the FCT for further development while attracting development partners and investors, adding that his competence in managing the complexities of the territory had continued to distinguish him.
The group said Wike’s experience in politics and governance would give him an advantage if entrusted with coordinating the APC campaign, describing him as a politician capable of consulting widely and building strategic alliances across constituencies. APCPolitical Analysis
It further described Wike as a fearless and highly vocal politician with a deep understanding of Nigeria’s political dynamics, arguing that his ability to engage diverse interests could help reposition the APC and strengthen its chances ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Wike remains an excellent example in our nation’s political movement in terms of politics of competence, continuity and courage,” the group said, adding that his experience would be instrumental in effectively marketing the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration.
The Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence therefore appealed to President Tinubu to consider Wike for the position, expressing confidence that his political savvy, intelligence, courage and indefatigability would help lead the APC campaign to victory in 2027.
