President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025, further extending implementation of the 2025 budget from September 30, 2026 to December 31, 2026.
Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, announced the assent in a State House press release on Tuesday, September 30, 2026.
According to Onanuga, the assent followed speedy passage of the amendment by the Senate and House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
He said the extension will give Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, more time to complete ongoing capital projects and ensure already appropriated funds are fully utilised without disrupting critical programmes.
The President commended leadership and members of the National Assembly for prompt consideration of the bill, saying it reflects sustained cooperation between the Executive and Legislature in service of the nation.
This is the fourth extension for the capital component of the 2025 budget, which was first extended in December 2025 to March 31, 2026, then to June 30, and again to September 30 before the latest shift to December 31.
