Chief Simon Eze, a prominent stakeholder from Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area and a strong supporter of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s re-election bid, has lauded the Governor’s administration for its bold investments in security infrastructure and commitment to peacebuilding across Enugu State.
In a statement issued on Friday, Eze—who is a Lagos-based businessman and owner of Seamark Electric Plc and Golden Tree Hotel, Satellite Town—on behalf of other stakeholders in Akpugo praised Governor Mbah’s latest achievement in commissioning the Centre for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation (CeDFoCI). The facility, established through a strategic partnership between the Enugu State Government, Godfrey Okoye University, and the Nigeria DNA Learning Centre, is located at the university’s Ugwuomu complex in Nike, Enugu.
Eze described the initiative as a visionary step that demonstrates the Governor’s determination to provide practical solutions to the socio-economic and security challenges confronting the state.
“In the last three years, the Enugu State Government under the remarkable leadership of Governor Barrister Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has put in place genuine and adequate measures to nip crime in the bud,” Eze stated.
According to him, the establishment of CeDFoCI positions Enugu and Nigeria among advanced jurisdictions that have integrated forensic science into their justice and security systems. The facility is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s forensic science capacity, equip law enforcement agencies with modern tools for criminal investigation, provide prosecutors with credible scientific evidence, assist courts in delivering fair and just outcomes, and enhance the overall administration of criminal justice among other things.
Eze emphasized that in an era of increasingly sophisticated criminal enterprises, security agencies must be empowered with equally advanced investigative capabilities.
Beyond criminal justice, he noted that the centre will also provide civil services such as scientifically verifiable paternity and maternity testing to resolve family disputes. Additionally, it will create high-skilled employment opportunities for Nigerian youths, build capacity, and prioritize human capital development.
“These achievements reflect a leader who is connected to the people with passion, integrity, transparency, and accountability,” Eze remarked.
Eze expressed pride in Governor Mbah’s accomplishments, stressing that they have reinforced the confidence of the people of Akpugo and Nkanu West in his leadership. He declared that as the 2027 general elections approach, stakeholders in the area are resolved to support Mbah’s bid for a second term.
“We want to say it loud and clear: after careful consideration, we have seen Governor Mbah as the best option to continue leading our dear state. Consequently, we call on all well-meaning Enugu citizens to join us in this purpose-driven journey,” he said.
