The Executive Chairman of Oriade, LCDA in Lagos State, Hon. Rasaq Akorede Olojede has joined Nigerians in celebrating the country’s 65th independence anniversary, emphasizing the need for residents to remain faithful and embrace patriotism and keep the country’s dream alive.

In his stirring commemorative message he charged the citizens in the locality to reflect on the sacrifices made by the nation’s forefathers and to recommit themselves to the progress of Nigeria, particularly the Renewed Hope Agenda driven by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which prioritises people’s welfare, infrastructure, health and education.

Reminiscing on Nigeria’s journey to independence, Hon. Olojede paid tribute to the nationalists who played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s independence in 1960. According to him these men not only contributed to securing Nigeria’s freedom but also worked tirelessly to give citizenry including those at Oriade a distinct identity within the Nigerian federation.

“Our freedom is the result of the struggles of many brave hearts,” Hon. Olojede stated. “Sacrificing one’s life requires infallible courage, and the blood of numerous indomitable spirits won the freedom we all enjoy today.”

The Executive Chairman who is barely three months in office further urged Nigerians, especially those in Oriade LCDA, to take pride in their identity and play active roles in the nation’s development. “It doesn’t matter who we are; what matters is our contribution to the betterment of the country. Now it is our turn to work towards the progress of this nation, especially our dear Oriade LCDA.”

He noted since gaining independence, Nigeria has made significant progress, transforming from a country emerging from colonialism to one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and the second-largest in Africa. He also highlighted the achievements of President Bola Tinubu and the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu urging citizens to embrace responsibility, diligence, and unity in shaping Nigeria’s future.

“Let us be responsible citizens and build our nation through our untiring diligence and unity. Let us make our society a tolerant one and a better place to live in for future generations while also showing appreciation to the government of Nigeria in their developmental strides both at state and federal levels. On our part at Oriade we would continue to leverage on the achievements of All Progressives Congress administration in Nigeria and domestic it here for our general good” he added.

Hon. Olojede concluded his message with a hopeful vision for the future, wishing all Nigerians a day filled with patriotic spirit and a renewed commitment to building a better and greater nation.
