Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message to Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia following the Georgian international’s anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Ronaldo, who has been Kvaratskhelia’s childhood idol, urged the 25-year-old not to lose confidence as he prepares for a challenging period of recovery and rehabilitation.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on X on Wednesday, Ronaldo said, “The hardest battles in football are often ones nobody sees.
“I know that feeling, Kvara. But never forget what brought you this far, and don’t let a difficult moment make you doubt how far you can go.
“Keep that fire on. Your best is still to come,” the Portuguese forward added.
Kvaratskhelia sustained an ACL injury in his right knee during Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League match against Barcelona, with the French club confirming that he would undergo surgery in the coming days.
The injury represents a significant setback for the winger, who had been in strong form before being forced off during the encounter.
Following the diagnosis, Kvaratskhelia expressed his disappointment, admitting that he was struggling to come to terms with the situation despite having prepared thoroughly for the match.
“Why me? I was not ready for this,” he said in an emotional statement.
However, the Georgian international vowed to work hard during his rehabilitation and return stronger for the supporters who have continued to encourage him.
“I know I have to come back stronger for my people who always support me. I won’t let you down; I promise I won’t waste a second. Thank you all for your support, see you soon,” he added.
Ronaldo’s message carries particular significance for Kvaratskhelia, who has looked up to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner since childhood.
The Portuguese star’s words offer encouragement to the PSG winger as he begins the road to recovery, with Kvaratskhelia determined to overcome the setback and return to the pitch.
