Community leader and human rights advocate, Chief (Comrade) Austine Ikubese, has issued a strong appeal to Nigeria’s political class following his recent trip to Nairobi, Kenya. Sharing a video reflection on the level of development he witnessed in East Africa, Ikubese called on Nigerian leaders to embrace a paradigm shift that will accelerate socio-economic growth and place the country on par with advanced economies.
In his message, Ikubese lamented Nigeria’s slow pace of progress, urging politicians to put the nation’s interest above personal gain. “This is the second phase video of my trip to Nairobi. I urge all our politicians and leaders to be intentional in rebuilding Nigeria’s economy. It’s sad we are backward. Put the country’s interest first before your personal interest. Let’s have a better Nigeria. May God help us,” he declared.
His remarks underscore a growing frustration among civic voices who believe Nigeria must urgently adopt bold reforms to match the speed of development seen in other parts of Africa and the world.
