The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has strongly condemned the rising cases of vandalism of road infrastructure across Nigeria, describing the destruction of public assets as “devilish, wicked, and utterly unacceptable.”
Umahi expressed deep concern over the deliberate damage to critical road facilities, stressing that such acts undermine government’s efforts to improve transportation networks and national development. He noted that vandalism not only wastes public resources but also endangers lives and hampers economic growth.
“It is very disheartening to see the level of destruction being carried out on our road infrastructure. This behavior is devilish, wicked, and cannot be tolerated,” Umahi said.
The Minister emphasized that road infrastructure is a collective asset meant to serve all Nigerians, urging communities to take ownership of these projects and protect them against sabotage. He further warned that perpetrators of vandalism would face the full weight of the law.
Umahi reiterated the federal government’s commitment to expanding and maintaining road networks nationwide, but stressed that sustainable progress requires citizens to act responsibly and safeguard public investments.
