Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida remains an enigma yesterday, today, and perhaps for all time. It is remarkable how history continues to reveal the many layers of a leader whose impact on Nigeria remains the subject of reflection, debate, and admiration.

On this special occasion of your birthday, I celebrate a man whose leadership was marked by civility, restraint, foresight, wisdom, and a deep awareness of the complexities of nationhood. Happy Birthday, Papa Aisha, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Time has a way of bringing clarity to issues that, in the emotion of the moment, may have appeared muddled or insufficiently appreciated. Alhamdulillah, you have lived long enough to witness history revisiting many of the contributions made during your season of service. As the years pass, the significance of initiatives such as National Orientation and Rural Development becomes even more apparent when measured against contemporary realities.

Thank you for the vision. Thank you for the brilliance of intellect. Thank you for the courage to think beyond the immediate and attempt solutions on a national scale. If one were to begin listing projects and achievements, the account would become lengthy indeed. Yet, among the enduring symbols of your legacy stands Abuja, a city that continues to serve as the heart of the Nigerian federation and a testament to long-term national planning.

Beyond policies and projects, you have remained a symbol of class, decorum, and measured conduct. Through changing seasons of national life, you have maintained the dignity expected of a statesman and preserved a repository of wisdom from which many continue to draw.

As you advance in age, one imagines that the stability of Nigeria and the careful management of our rich diversity still occupy your thoughts. The journey of our nation remains unfinished, and the lessons of experience remain invaluable.

May Almighty Allah grant you comfort in your later years, peace in your spirit, sound health, and the satisfaction that comes from a life of consequential service. May He continue to bless you with wisdom and serenity.

Many happy returns, Your Excellency.
