It is difficult not to recognize the enormity of the work being undertaken at this moment in our nation’s history. The reforms may not always be immediately visible to those focused on present discomforts, but some of us can appreciate the scale of the structural changes required to secure Nigeria’s future.
Many of these are the kinds of difficult decisions and long-term policies that visionary leaders have advocated for decades often at great political cost. History teaches us that genuine transformation is rarely popular in its early stages, yet it is often necessary for national renewal.
The recent push for comprehensive police reform, including the transmission of legislation aimed at restructuring policing and opening the path toward state policing, is particularly significant. For decades, Nigerians have debated how to build a security architecture capable of responding effectively to local threats while preserving national cohesion. Whether one agrees with every provision or not, confronting such a fundamental issue demonstrates a willingness to engage with problems that previous administrations often postponed.
Security remains the foundation upon which economic growth, investment, education, agriculture, and social stability depend. A nation cannot fully prosper when communities live under the constant threat of violence, banditry, insurgency, kidnapping, and organized crime. Serious security challenges require serious institutional reforms.
Many of these efforts echo longstanding conversations about federalism, governance, economic modernization, and national development. They are not easy policies. They demand political courage, patience, and a willingness to endure criticism in pursuit of long-term national objectives.
O Lord, the One who appoints and removes leaders, the Giver of life and the One to whom all creation returns, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is in Your hands. Grant him wisdom, strength, courage, good health, and the discernment required to complete the task before him. Surround him with honest counsel and protect him from error and distraction.
While some may dismiss these efforts or seek short-term political advantage, I remain convinced that the pursuit of economic stability, institutional reform, enhanced security, and national development is the right direction for our country. The journey is difficult, but the destination is worth striving for.
To You belong the most beautiful names those revealed and those beyond human knowledge. May You guide our leaders, unite our people, and bless our nation with peace, prosperity, justice, and security.
Nigeria shall be great.
