Chief Simon Eze, a respected community leader from Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, has congratulated Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah on his conferment of the Doctor of Law Degree, honoris causa, by the University of East London (UEL) in the United Kingdom.
Eze, a Lagos-based businessman and owner of Seamark Electric Plc and Golden Tree Hotel & Suites, described the honour as a well-deserved recognition of Governor Mbah’s outstanding contributions to law, business, and public service.
He hailed Mbah’s transformative leadership, noting that under his administration, Enugu has become one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing states, with accelerated economic growth, strengthened infrastructure, and an elevated national profile.
“Governor Mbah has demonstrated visionary leadership that is reshaping Enugu into a hub of innovation and prosperity. Continuity in leadership is essential to consolidate these gains, and the people of Akpugo are solidly behind his reelection bid,” Chief Eze affirmed.
The conferment ceremony, held at UEL’s Docklands Campus, highlighted Mbah’s academic and leadership journey. Presenting his citation, Prof. Fatima Ana-Diab, Vice-Provost (Business) and Executive Dean of the Royal Docks School of Business and Law, recalled his days as a student leader, his achievements in moot competitions, and his rise from law graduate to entrepreneur and governor.
Ana-Diab praised Mbah’s investments in education, innovation, and infrastructure, describing him as a leader whose career embodies the transformative power of knowledge.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Mbah reiterated his belief in disruptive innovation, education, and service, stressing that imagination must be matched with purpose. He revealed that his administration has allocated 33 per cent of the state budget to education, building schools, technology hubs, and opportunities for young people to thrive in a knowledge-driven economy.
“Education enlarges our capacity to transform the world. What we are given must somehow enlarge the possibilities available to others,” Mbah said, thanking his alma mater for shaping his journey.
