In a bold move to address Nigeria’s growing security challenges, Otunba Segun Showunmi, a prominent political figure, who recently unveiled a new initiative, The Alternative, under the umbrella of the National Opposition Movement has challenged elites of northern extraction to fix the rising criminal insurgency ravaging the region.
Showunmi maintained that fixing of the challenges facing northern Nigeria is the panacea to solving the nation’s challenges.
The former governorship aspirant in Ogun State on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) threw this challenge on his social media post on Thursday and also made available to Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com) condemned what he described as renewed spike in criminal insurgency up north.
Showunmi added that Nigeria needs many leagues of patriotic and committed democrats to improve the quality of governance and stop shifting blames.

Renewed spike in criminal insurgency up north!
It is irresponsible for any leader let alone a northern leader to blame imaginary government for the unending security challenges occasioned by their mismanaged leadership in the north.
How on God’s earth is it supposed to be normal that people just wake up and kill innocent people in the north under whatever mad ideology for so many years and they have the nerves to blame anyone but themselves for not investing in their people has there ever been a time money due the north was denied them.
Enough of this madness!
No president can stop the madness until the people of the north say enough is enough!
I don’t blame them I blame the weak leaders who put up with this nonsense for so many decades!
If insurgency lasts so long then the people are active collaborators!
The security must look at the political leaders up north to find the nexus between political contests and the spiked insurgency.
This nation will not succumb to this joke taken too far.
