Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening international partnerships as he welcomed the United States Consul General, Brandon Hudspeth, to Lagos House, Marina.

Hudspeth, who previously led the U.S. Political and Economic team in Lagos between 2020 and 2022, returned to familiar ground with a renewed focus on strengthening cooperation between Lagos and the United States.

In a statement obtained by Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com) Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the significance of the recent Sister State Agreement with California, describing it as a fresh opportunity to expand collaboration in trade, investment, and diaspora engagement.

“It was a pleasure welcoming him back to Lagos. With the Sister State Agreement, we have another opportunity to deepen the relationship between Lagos and the United States and create new areas of collaboration,” the Governor said.

Discussions during the meeting centered on diplomatic cooperation, support for Nigerian-American businesses, and stronger engagement with the Nigerian diaspora, all aimed at boosting Lagos’ global competitiveness.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism about working closely with Consul General Hudspeth to consolidate Lagos’ position as a hub for innovation, commerce, and international diplomacy.

This meeting underscores Lagos’ growing role as a strategic partner in U.S.–Africa relations and reflects Sanwo-Olu’s vision of positioning the state as a global economic powerhouse.
