President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa.
Adeleke arrived at the State House on Thursday and was driven directly to the President’s Office at about 5:20 p.m through the forecourt route, where he proceeded into a meeting with the President.
The meeting is coming barely days after Adeleke secured re-election for a second term in the Osun State governorship election held on August 15.
The National Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Sen. Ajibola Bashiru, also led some leaders across the corridor possibly to join them at the meeting.
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 444,815 votes.
The Accord candidate won by a margin of 66,252 votes.
The governor also won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured 11, in a keenly contested election that attracted significant political attention across the state.
Adeleke’s victory marked a significant development in Osun politics, particularly following his decision to seek re-election on the platform of the Accord Party after the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) adopted his candidacy and directed its structures to support his re-election bid.
His meeting with Tinubu is therefore attracting considerable political interest, coming at a time when political realignments are intensifying ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The engagement is also taking place against the backdrop of the President’s recent meetings with political leaders and senior government officials as preparations for the 2027 political season gather momentum.
Although the purpose of Thursday’s meeting was not immediately disclosed, discussions between the two leaders could touch on developments in Osun State, governance, federal-state relations and broader national political issues.
Adeleke’s victory has strengthened his political position in Osun, while his emergence under the Accord platform has further altered the state’s political configuration.
Details of the discussions between the President and the governor were not immediately available as of press time.
