President Tinubu Celebrates Oando GCEO, Adewale Tinubu, at 59

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to the Group Chief Executive Officer of Oando Plc, Adewale Tinubu, on the occasion of his 59th birthday, commending his remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s energy sector and his pioneering role in advancing indigenous participation in the oil and gas industry.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President joined family, friends, and associates in celebrating the business leader, describing his entrepreneurial achievements as a significant boost to national economic development.

President Tinubu praised Adewale Tinubu—widely recognised by Forbes as the “African King of Oil”—for transforming Oando from a petroleum marketing company into a fully integrated energy conglomerate with operations spanning upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors.

He highlighted the economic impact of Tinubu’s leadership, noting that his investments have created thousands of jobs for Nigerians while positioning Oando as a major player in Africa’s energy landscape.

The President also acknowledged Tinubu’s role in spearheading landmark transactions, including the acquisition of ConocoPhillips’ Nigerian assets, and leading Oando’s historic dual listing on both the Nigerian Stock Exchange and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, achievements that underscored the company’s global competitiveness.

According to the statement, President Tinubu commended Adewale Tinubu for advancing the Federal Government’s local content agenda by championing indigenous participation in the oil and gas sector, while also supporting environmental protection initiatives.

Beyond business, the President lauded Tinubu’s philanthropic efforts through the Oando Foundation, established in 2011, which currently supports more than 88 schools nationwide. The foundation has been instrumental in promoting education, community development, and environmental sustainability.

President Tinubu prayed for Adewale Tinubu’s continued good health, long life, and greater accomplishments, wishing him many more years of impactful service to his family, the business community, and the nation at large.
