President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on her birthday, commending her contributions to public service and national development.
In a birthday message by his Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday , the President described Dabiri-Erewa as a devoted public servant and committed party loyalist who has consistently demonstrated patriotism and concern for the welfare of Nigerians.
Dabiri-Erewa began her career as a broadcaster with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) before venturing into politics, where she represented Ikorodu Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2015.
During her time in the National Assembly, she chaired the House Committee on Media and Publicity and headed the House Committee on Diaspora Affairs.
Tinubu commended her dedication, diligence and foresight in her various roles as a journalist, lawmaker and head of NiDCOM, particularly her efforts to promote social justice and protect the interests of Nigerians at home and abroad.
The President noted that Dabiri-Erewa had demonstrated her commitment to humanity over the years by prioritising the welfare and well-being of underprivileged people.
He also praised her contributions to mobilising Nigerians in the diaspora to support the country’s development, particularly in the education, health and sports sectors.
According to Tinubu, her patriotic efforts in attracting diaspora talents to contribute to national development are commendable, adding that she has justified the awards and recognition she has received.
“As you mark another special day, I pray for God’s blessings, wisdom and good health to carry on the good work you are championing,” the President said.
