In a move seen as a major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s labour movement in the oil and gas industry, the newly elected President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Comrade Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive President of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Comrade Dr. Salimon Akanni Oladiti, at his home office.

The meeting, which also had in attendance NUPENG’s Deputy President, Comrade Akinwole Ebenezer Oladejo, served as a vital platform for both unions to strengthen collaboration and advance the harmonisation of their collective efforts, ensuring a united front in championing the rights and welfare of both blue- and white-collar workers across Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

In a statement seen by Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com), both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to unity, mutual respect, and cooperation, stressing that a stronger collective voice is essential to advancing the interests of workers and safeguarding the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

“Together, PENGASSAN and NUPENG can build a stronger, more united and progressive labour movement,” the unions declared, underscoring the significance of the engagement.

Analysts say the meeting signals a renewed push for synergy between the two powerful unions, whose cooperation is critical in shaping labour relations, industrial peace, and policy advocacy in Nigeria’s energy sector.
