Oriade LCDA Chairman, Rasaq Olojede, Sympathizes With Families of Alakija Building Collapse Victims

Following the tragic collapse of a three-storey building on Old Ojo Road near Alakija Bus Stop in Satellite Town, the Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area (Amuwo Odofin Local Government), Hon. Rasaq Akorede Olojede, together with his entire council team, has extended heartfelt condolences to the residents and families of the victims.

Hon. Olojede described the incident as a devastating loss to the community and expressed deep sympathy to those who lost loved ones. He assured residents that the council stands in solidarity with the affected families during this difficult time and will continue to support efforts aimed at preventing similar tragedies in the future.

He further emphasized the council’s commitment to working closely with relevant state authorities to strengthen building safety regulations, enforce compliance, and protect lives and property across the LCDA.

According to him, the unfortunate incident underscores the urgent need for vigilance, accountability, and proactive measures in urban development.

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that, I, Hon. Rasaq Akorede Olojede, Executive Chairman, Oriade Local Council Development Area, on behalf of the government and the entire people of Oriade LCDA, express our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the tragic collapse of a building in the Alakija area In Old Ojo road of Oriade LCDA in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the affected residents, survivors, and their families during this incredibly difficult time. We mourn the lives lost, including the innocent ones taken too soon, and stand in solidarity with those injured or displaced by this unfortunate incident. The resilience shown by our community in the face of such adversity is a testament to the strength of the people of Oriade LCDA and its environs.

We commend the swift response of The Chinese Construction Engineering Company (CCEC LTD) Immediately the incident occurred and before the arrival of the emergency agencies, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, security agencies, and all first responders who have been working tirelessly to rescue survivors and manage the situation.

As a Council, we will continue to collaborate with the Lagos State Government and relevant authorities to ensure that adequate relief materials, medical support, and necessary assistance reach those in need. We also urge relevant agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the collapse to prevent future occurrences and uphold building standards across our communities.

To the Directly affected bereaved families: May God grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and may the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace. To the injured: We deeply pray for your speedy and complete recovery.

The people of Oriade LCDA share in your pain. We are one community, and we will get through this together.
