Popular Nigerian content creator and entrepreneur, Waris Olayinka Akinwande, widely known as Ola of Lagos, has come to the defence of a group of young men identified online as “Lekki Car Spotters,” following viral claims that they were terrorizing residents in Lagos.

In a video statement obtained by Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com), Ola of Lagos dismissed the circulating narrative, insisting that the individuals in question are not beggars or miscreants but rather car enthusiasts whose passion for automobiles may have been misinterpreted.

“These young men are not beggars or miscreants. They are car enthusiasts who, in their passion for automobiles, may have expressed it in a way that was misunderstood. I have already spoken with them and addressed the manner in which they showcased their interest,” he said.

Ola further appealed to the Lagos State Government to grant the car spotters another opportunity to demonstrate their enthusiasm in a more constructive and responsible way.

“Through this medium, I respectfully appeal to the government to kindly grant them another opportunity—this time to channel their enthusiasm in a more constructive and responsible way,” he added.

Acknowledging the government’s ongoing efforts to improve safety and orderliness in the state, Ola expressed gratitude and respect for its commitment to progress.

“I fully acknowledge and appreciate the government’s tireless efforts to make Lagos safer, more orderly, and more livable for all citizens. Your dedication is recognized, valued, and respected,” he noted.
