The Working People United (WoPU), a coalition of workers, professionals, and artisans, has reaffirmed its endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the most viable candidate for Nigerians in the 2027 general elections.
This renewed declaration was made on Sunday by WoPU’s Coordinator-General, Comrade (Prince) Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, during the Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary at Living Faith Church, Asaba.
The service also coincided with the 72nd birthday celebration of Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith World Outreach (Winners Chapel), and was attended by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori alongside other dignitaries.
Akporeha commended President Tinubu’s leadership over the past three and a half years, describing it as “exemplary and remarkable.” He noted that Tinubu’s administration has shown boldness and courage in confronting challenges that previous governments had avoided.
“Although President Tinubu inherited a collapsed country, he has demonstrated the resilience and vision to revive this dead seed called Nigeria so it can grow again and yield prosperity,” Akporeha said.
WoPU highlighted several landmark policies of the administration, including, fuel subsidy removal, which they argue has freed up funds for grassroots development, establishment of Nigeria’s first private refinery, ensuring steady petroleum supply nationwide despite global hostilities.
WoPU also mentioned advocacy for state police and resource control, which they believe will strengthen security, reduce corruption, and promote equitable development, floating of the naira, which they claim has boosted export competitiveness, attracted foreign investment, and reduced reliance on volatile oil revenues, credentials they say distinguish Tinubu from his opponents.
Akporeha, the immediate past President of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), emphasized that Tinubu is not driven by personal ambition for wealth or power but by a commitment to national progress.
“As Nigeria marks its 66th year of independence, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stands out as a leader who understands the dynamics of power and applies it for the collective good. With zero tolerance for religious bigotry and insecurity, he has strengthened Nigeria’s resources and expanded revenue generation, particularly through reforms in the Customs Service and other critical sectors. His determination and capacity to complete the work he has begun remain evident, and he possesses the will to deliver meritoriously,” he noted.
As part of its strategy, WoPU announced plans to embark on mass sensitization campaigns targeting workers and young Nigerians to mobilize support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Akporeha concluded that steering Nigeria through its current challenges requires resilience and tenacity; qualities he believes Tinubu embodies, with a proven track record in both private enterprise and public service.
