Mrs. Cordelia Mgbulum Obeya To Be Buried In Ikoyi, Friday May 22, 2026

The family of late Chief Andrew Ichukwu Obeya Akanaba 1 of Okpoga, Okpoku LGA, Benue State and Amala’Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State along with family of late Chief James Osamor Okolo, Ojede of Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South LGA Delta State have announced with deep sorrow, but with gratitude to Almighty God for a life well spent, the passing of their matriarch, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and wife, Mrs. Cordelia Mgbulum Obeya (nee Okolo).

Late madam Cordelia was an educationist having bagged B Sc (Lagos) Msc at Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development, USA. The matriarch peacefully She breathed her last on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

She dedicated her life to meritorious service in a most profound and wonderful way with many enduring impact. Her legacy of shaping minds and positively transforming humanity will truly continue to live on and inspire future generations.

According to a family statement signed by John N. Ekwuyasi and Andrew I. Obey (Jr) and made available to newsmen the family expressed gratitude to God for granting their late mother the enablement to be industrious, gentle in spirit, kind-hearted and steadfast in God during her sojourn in the world, noting that those uncommon virtues will remain indelible in their hearts.

The family also announced the burial arrangements, disclosing that on Thursday May 21, 2026 Christian wake keep service and songs will kick off by 4pm to 7pm while from 7pm till dawn social wake keep will take place at her residence inside 24B Parkview Estate, off Gerrad road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The statement went further to indicate that burial mass will hold between 10am to 12pm at Church of the Assumption, Falomo Ikoyi, on Friday May 22, 2026,.while her body will leave for private interment at the vaults and garden, Ikoyi. Guests will also be welcomed to have refreshment at her residence in Parkview, Ikoyi.

Subsequently, Sunday service will hold in her honor on May 24 at church of the Assumption family thanksgiving will hold in Sunday, May 24, 2026. Meanwhile, another family thanksgiving mass will hold on last Sunday of the month (May 31, 2026) at the St Bernard’s church. Okpokwu LGA Ugwu Okpoga, Benue State between 6:30 am to 8:30am.

The statement equally noted that the “Opiotu” Idoma traditional observance reception will commence between 2pm to 6pm at the family residence of Chief Andrew Ichukwu Obeya, Akanaba 1 of Idomaland and Amala Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State.
