The families of late Chief Andrew Ichukwu Obeya, Akanaba 1 of Okpoga, Okpokwu LGA, Benue State, and Amala’Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, together with the family of late Chief James Osamor Okolo, Ojede of Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South LGA, Delta State, announce with deep sorrow but gratitude to Almighty God for a life well lived, the passing of their beloved matriarch, Mrs. Cordelia Mgbulum Obeya (née Okolo) — mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and wife.
Madam Cordelia, an accomplished educationist, earned her B.Sc. from the University of Lagos and her M.Sc. from Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education and Human Development, USA. She peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
She dedicated her life to meritorious service, leaving enduring impacts through her commitment to education and humanity. Her legacy of shaping minds and inspiring future generations will remain indelible.
According to a family statement signed by John N. Ekwuyasi and Andrew I. Obeya (Jr.), the family expressed gratitude to God for blessing their mother with industriousness, gentleness of spirit, kindness, and steadfast faith — virtues they say will forever remain in their hearts.
