A Rivers State mother is crying out for justice after losing all three of her children in what is being described as a tragic and avoidable accident in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Amarachi Esomonu says her children — aged 10, four, and three — were killed on May 15, 2026, after being struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by a man who was reportedly teaching his girlfriend how to drive.

In a video that has since gone viral, a visibly devastated woman recounted how she personally recovered the bodies of her children from the scene, her voice breaking under the weight of a grief no parent should ever know.

What has made her account particularly haunting is a detail that has moved thousands online.

Every morning, she says, her alarm still goes off — the same alarm she once set to prepare her children for school.

“Every day I’ll wake up in the morning and remember them,” Esomonu said.

“Every day my alarm rings, but there are no kids for me to dress for school. Their killers are comfortable. They aren’t saying anything,” she added.

The incident has generated widespread outrage across Rivers State and beyond, with many calling for the immediate prosecution of those responsible.

The Rivers State Police Command has since responded, confirming that an active investigation into the incident had commenced, though no arrests have been publicly announced at the time of this report.

Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju extended condolences to the bereaved family and confirmed that an investigation is underway.

In a press release issued by Police Public Relations Officer ASP Agabe Kaborlo, the Command gave assurances that “justice will not only be served, but manifestly seen to be served in accordance with the law.”

The police urged members of the public to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and cooperate with investigators as inquiries continue.
