The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) has strongly condemned the circulation of what it described as an old and maliciously repackaged publication aimed at tarnishing the image of the Agency and discrediting the ongoing reforms instituted within the organisation.
Reacting to a recent online publication, alleging misconduct involving some operatives of the agency, the taskforce described the report as a deliberate attempt to revive stale narratives that do not reflect the present realities, operational standards and institutional reforms that have transformed the Agency in recent years.
The agency noted that while constructive criticism remains essential in a democratic society, it is deeply disturbing that certain bloggers and online platforms have continued to abandon the ethics of journalism and professionalism in pursuit of sensationalism, blackmail and traffic-driven content without proper verification of facts.
The taskforce said the publication in question was not only outdated but deliberately published at a time when the agency has continued to record notable operational successes and public commendations in traffic management, environmental enforcement and crime suppression across Lagos State.
The agency stressed that the Lagos Taskforce of today is significantly different from what existed years ago, owing to several internal reforms, personnel retraining exercises, stricter monitoring mechanisms and disciplinary measures introduced by the Lagos State Government and the leadership of the agency.
