Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu struck a patriotic chord today as he joined thousands of Lagosians at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day.
In a stirring address at the Independence Day celebration, Governor Sanwo-Olu was joined by his wife, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State, as well as the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, who also serves as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Lagos State in the 2027 general elections.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since independence in 1960, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized: “Sixty-six years is a significant milestone. It represents decades of hard work and sacrifice from the generation that came before us to the everyday Lagosians working hard.”
Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com) gathered that the Governor also praised the resilience of Lagos residents, noting that building a nation is a continuous effort requiring unity and shared purpose.
He assured citizens that his administration remains committed to creating “a Lagos that works for everyone.”
The parade, filled with vibrant displays of culture, military precision, and community pride, underscored the Governor’s message of collective responsibility and hope for the future.
