Nigerian energy magnate and Group Managing Director of Sahara Group, Dr. Kola Adesina, on Saturday, June 6, paid tribute to the cherished memories of his late parents, Papa Ishola Shogbola Adesina and Madam Adejumoke Awero Adesina.
In a deeply moving message that resonated widely across social media, the Sahara Power GMD reflected on the remarkable coincidence of the dates on which both parents were laid to rest. “Today, 6 June, is a sacred day of remembrance in our family,” he wrote.
According to him, while his father was buried on June 6, 2013, his mother was also committed to the earth on June 6, 2025; exactly twelve years later.
Adesina, while reminiscing on the lives of his parents, chose to celebrate their virtues and enduring legacies, transforming grief into a profound tribute. He recalled their silent sacrifices, strength of character, and wisdom, noting how these qualities continue to shape the lives of their children long after their passing.
“Together, you taught us the meaning of faith, integrity, hard work, resilience, and family. The legacy you left behind is not measured by possessions, but by the lives you touched, the values you instilled, and the generations you nurtured,” Dr. Adesina stated.

In Loving Memory of My Parents
Today, 6 June, is a sacred day of remembrance in our family.
On this day in 2013, we laid my beloved father to rest.
Twelve years later, on the same date in 2025, we gathered again to commit my dear mother to the earth.
Though time has passed, their love, sacrifices, values, and prayers continue to shape our lives.
Dad, your strength, wisdom, discipline, and guidance remain enduring pillars upon which we stand.
Mum, your warmth, prayers, devotion, kindness, sacrifices and unwavering love continue to comfort and inspire us every day.
Together, you taught us the meaning of faith, integrity, hard work, resilience, and family. The legacy you left behind is not measured by possessions, but by the lives you touched, the values you instilled, and the generations you nurtured.
As we remember you both today, our hearts are filled with gratitude to God for the privilege of being your children. We miss your presence, cherish your memories, and celebrate lives well lived.
May the Almighty grant you eternal rest and perfect peace.
Forever remembered. Forever loved. Forever missed.
Dad (Buried 6 June 2013) Mum (Buried 6 June 2025)
“The righteous live on in the hearts of those they loved and served.”
