High Chief Jacob Idinye on Saturday praised the Donald Trump administration’s success in reaching a Middle East peace deal.
Idinye a two time governorship aspirant in Edo State is also cautiously watching to see how the early phases play out but expressed some optimism about the prospects of the Israel-Hamas peace plan brokered by President Trump as the first stage of the deal takes shape.
The media personality in a chat with some newsmen on Saturday said:
“It is remarkable to see that peace is gradually returning to the Middle East courtesy President Donald Trump, this is highly commendable. The landmark and historic conversation took place two days after the signing of a milestone deal in which Hamas agreed to release all remaining hostages taken on Oct. 7, 2023, and Israel pledged to withdraw its military from parts of the Gaza Strip. Mr. Trump has called the deal the first phase of a comprehensive 20-point plan to end the two-year-long Israel-Hamas war.
“More impressive is the fact that POTUS, Donald Trump plans to travel to the Middle East as soon as this weekend, and said he hopes to be present for the return of the hostages. This is another major breakthrough that has silenced the critics of Donald Trump. Trump is the hero of the moment who now enjoys organic global accolades and respect.
“Meanwhile, while I commend President Trump and his administration, I must also extend the appreciation to the Arab leaders in the region for making the commitment to the 20-point plan and seeing a path forward for what’s often called the day after.
“I hope and also pray that both the Israelis and Palestinians will get through this first phase of the deal and I am very optimistic this will be fruitful and productive. Though it’s going to take a lot of work and lots of coordination but it will definitely work out.
“This deal is expected to allow dozens of hostages to return to their families on Monday or Tuesday, ending a two-year ordeal that began with Hamas’ attack on southern Israel.
“It would also offer a reprieve to millions of residents of the Gaza Strip who have faced an intense and nearly uninterrupted two-year bombardment and ground invasion by Israel’s military. Kudos to President Trump for becoming a global iconic brand for peace with essential diplomatic skills, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and cross-cultural communication.”
