President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that his commitment to “Project Nigeria” has never been stronger after what he described as a historic and deeply personal spiritual encounter inside Islam’s holiest sanctuary, the Ka’abah in Makkah.

Fresh from performing Umrah in Saudi Arabia, Tinubu revealed that he used the rare opportunity of praying inside the sacred structure to seek divine wisdom, resilience, and guidance for leading Africa’s most populous nation through its challenges and toward prosperity.

The President, who expressed profound gratitude to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting him and members of the Nigerian delegation access to the Ka’abah, described the experience as one that strengthened his resolve to serve Nigerians with humility and purpose.

“I asked for wisdom and resilience to continue to serve the people. I know that prayer has been granted,” Tinubu said.

A Sacred Moment, A National Mission
Standing at the heart of the Islamic world, Tinubu said his prayers were focused not on personal ambition but on the future of Nigeria, particularly the next generation.

The President emphasized that leadership is a divine trust and that ultimate authority belongs to Allah, warning that power must be exercised responsibly and in service to the people.

Drawing inspiration from the Qur’anic teaching that God grants and withdraws power according to His will, Tinubu reflected on the weight of occupying Nigeria’s highest office.

“Out of many millions of people, to be the President and Commander-in-Chief is a favour that only Almighty God can do to a human being,” he said.
“The Economy Has Come Out of the Dark Tunnel”

In one of the strongest remarks on the state of the nation’s economy, Tinubu expressed optimism about Nigeria’s trajectory, insisting that reforms undertaken by his administration are beginning to yield results.
“The foundation is solid, and the economy has come out of the dark tunnel. This is inspiring,” he declared.

The President maintained that lasting progress would depend on sustained investment in youth development, education, and opportunity creation.
“We need to build a future for our youth. If we don’t invest in their future, how do we want to be remembered as leaders 50 years from now?”

Emotion and Gratitude in the Holy City
Observers described the atmosphere as deeply emotional as ministers, governors, and business leaders who accompanied the President expressed gratitude for the opportunity to enter and pray within one of Islam’s most revered sites.

Among those present were Justice Minister Lateef Fagbemi, Health Minister Ali Pate, governors from several northern states, BUA Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu, and Oando Group CEO Wale Tinubu.

The President also spoke warmly of Saudi Arabia’s hospitality, noting with symbolic delight that the green surroundings of the Ka’abah reminded him of Nigeria’s green-and-white national colours.
A Renewed Promise to Nigerians

Beyond the spiritual significance of the visit, Tinubu framed the experience as a renewed covenant of service to the nation.

He pledged to continue pursuing policies aimed at expanding prosperity, strengthening economic foundations, creating opportunities for young people, and moving Nigeria toward greater development.

“My commitment to Project Nigeria is higher. I am determined to usher in prosperity and fully develop the country, consistent with the wish of Allah and the support of the people.”

As he concluded his reflections, the President presented the Saudi pilgrimage not merely as a religious journey, but as a moment of recommitment to leadership, faith, and nation-building, declaring that his mission remains focused on securing a more prosperous future for Nigeria.
