The Ijebu Congress has expressed deep appreciation to the Governors of Ogun and Lagos States for their steadfast commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

Drawing inspiration from the Yoruba adage, “Yin ni yin ki ẹni le ṣe emiran” (commend those who have done well so that others may be encouraged to do likewise), the Congress emphasized the importance of recognizing exemplary leadership in matters of public safety.

In a statement signed by Prince Bunmi Mebude, Chairman, and Otunba Hammed Gafari, Secretary, the association praised the governors for their sustained efforts in tackling insecurity, particularly the menace of kidnapping and violent crimes.

At a time when many regions of Nigeria continue to grapple with criminal activities, Ogun and Lagos States have demonstrated vigilance and strategic coordination that have significantly enhanced security.

The Congress also commended the Nigeria Police Force, especially the Commissioners of Police in both states, for their proactive operations and decisive interventions. Their professionalism has been particularly evident along the Sagamu–Ogbere Expressway corridor, where criminal activity has been notably reduced.

Acknowledging that security is a constitutional responsibility of state governments, the Congress stressed that effective protection of lives and property requires more than occupying the office of Chief Security Officer. It involves strategic planning, collaboration with security agencies, continuous monitoring, and decisive leadership — qualities that Ogun and Lagos governors have consistently demonstrated.

Furthermore, the Congress extended heartfelt appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for their leadership in strengthening regional security. The Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos were also recognized for their outstanding service and dedication.

On behalf of Ijebu sons and daughters worldwide, the Congress joined the people of Ogun and Lagos States, as well as other well-meaning Nigerians, in applauding these leaders and security officials.

They encouraged them to remain steadfast in their efforts to ensure lasting peace and prosperity.“May their dedication continue to yield greater safety and prosperity for our people,” the statement concluded.
