The Chairman of Golden Tree Hotel and Seamark Electric Plc, Chief Simon Eze, joined an array of distinguished personalities, traditional rulers, political leaders and community stakeholders at the 8th Day Fidau Prayers and family/community final burial ceremony held in honour of the late Alhaji Raimi Olojede, fondly known as the Akogun of Ibasa and Ijegun Egba, Satellite Town, Lagos.
The revered community icon was the father of the Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Rasak Akorede Olojede, who hosted the historic gathering attended by thousands of sympathizers from across Lagos and beyond.
Chief Eze, who is widely respected as a business leader and a prominent representative of the Igbo community within the area, described the late Alhaji Olojede as a remarkable patriarch whose life was defined by service, leadership and an unwavering commitment to community development.
Speaking with journalists at the well-attended ceremony, Chief Eze noted that while the passing of the elder statesman was painful, his death should also be viewed as a celebration of a fulfilled and impactful life.
“The patriarch of the Olojede family has gone home to rest, and this can rightly be described as a celebration of life,” he said. “During his lifetime, Baba was blessed to witness the success and achievements of his children and grandchildren. A shining example is the Executive Chairman of Oriade LCDA,
Hon. Rasak Akorede Olojede, who has distinguished himself as a visionary and people-oriented leader.”
He further acknowledged that although the late Akogun had attained an advanced age, the pain of losing a loved one remains profound regardless of age.
“While we recognize that Baba lived a long and fulfilled life, the loss of a beloved father, mentor and community leader is always devastating. However, we should take solace in the fact that he lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation,” Chief Eze stated.
Paying glowing tribute to the deceased, the business mogul emphasized that the late Alhaji Olojede dedicated his life to nurturing future leaders, promoting communal harmony and positively impacting everyone who crossed his path.
According to him, the late elder’s influence transcended family boundaries and extended to the wider Ibasa and Satellite Town communities, where he was revered for his integrity, wisdom and commitment to peace and progress.
Chief Eze described the passing of the Akogun as a significant loss not only to the Olojede family but also to the entire community, noting that his contributions would remain etched in the hearts of those he served.
“The Lord will continue to comfort every member of the family, the traditional institutions and everyone associated with him. Although he is no longer with us physically, his ideals and accomplishments will continue to speak for him,” he added.
He urged members of the Olojede family and community leaders to preserve and uphold the enduring values for which the late patriarch was known, particularly integrity, dignity, unity, compassion and selfless service.
“We will continue to draw inspiration from the outstanding legacy he left behind. His life was a testament to hard work, community building and genuine love for humanity. My prayer is that the family remains strong and continues to sustain the noble virtues that Baba stood for throughout his lifetime,” Chief Eze concluded.
The ceremony, which drew an unprecedented crowd, served not only as a farewell to a respected community elder but also as a celebration of a life dedicated to leadership, service and the advancement of society. Many attendees agreed that the legacy of Alhaji Raimi Olojede will continue to inspire generations and remain a guiding light for the people of Ibasa, Ijegun Egba and the wider Satellite Town community.
