Nigeria has taken a bold step toward unlocking the full potential of its estimated $700 billion mineral resources, as a new investment framework was signed at the Nigeria Mission House in New York

The agreement, sealed between Hon. Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, and Christopher Landau, US Deputy Secretary of State, aims to transform Nigeria’s mineral sector from raw material exports into a thriving value-added industry.

Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, who witnessed the signing, described the moment as “an important step forward for our economy.”

He emphasized that the framework will focus on local value chain by boosting processing and exploration within Nigeria. Also in terms of infrastructure development, the accord according the Governor will help to strengthen transport and energy systems to support mining.

Governor Sanwo-Olu added:“We must keep working to ensure that opportunities like this create real benefits for our people in Lagos and across Nigeria.”

This framework signals a new era of collaboration between Nigeria and the United States, positioning Nigeria as a global hub for mineral processing and industrial growth.
