As political realignments continue to reshape Nigeria’s landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Executive Assistant on Administration to the Oyo State Governor, Rev. Idowu Ogedengbe, has expressed unwavering confidence in the presidential ambition of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate as one of the most formidable contenders in the race for the nation’s highest office.
Ogedengbe, while reaffirming his support for the Oyo State Governor, said Makinde possesses the leadership credentials, governance experience, and national appeal required to address Nigeria’s pressing economic, security, and developmental challenges.
According to him, during a webinar with some journalists including Veracity Desk ,(veracitydesk.com) he said the growing dissatisfaction among many Nigerians over economic hardship, unemployment, insecurity, and declining living standards has created a political environment in which voters are increasingly searching for credible alternatives capable of delivering practical solutions and inclusive governance.
He particularly commended Makinde’s strategic understanding of the country’s complex political dynamics, especially in Northern Nigeria, noting that his decision to select former Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), Lawal Daura, as his running mate demonstrates foresight and a firm commitment to tackling the nation’s security challenges.
Ogedengbe argued that Daura’s extensive experience within Nigeria’s security and intelligence architecture would strengthen an administration focused on restoring peace and stability across the country.
“Governor Seyi Makinde’s choice of Lawal Daura is a deliberate and strategic one. Nigeria’s security challenges require experienced hands and institutional knowledge. Having led one of the country’s most critical intelligence agencies, Daura possesses valuable expertise that can contribute significantly to addressing insecurity and protecting lives and property across the federation,” he said.
He further stated that Makinde’s presidential bid is steadily gaining traction across geopolitical zones because of the governor’s governance record, impressive infrasructural development in Oyo State and his reputation for prudent management of public resources.
According to Ogedengbe, the developmental strides recorded under the Makinde administration in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic expansion have provided tangible evidence of his capacity to govern effectively.
He maintained that Nigerians are increasingly paying attention to leaders with demonstrable achievements rather than campaign promises, adding that Makinde’s performance in Oyo State provides a practical example of the leadership style he would bring to the presidency.
“No leader is perfect, however Governor Makinde has distinguished himself as a leader who places governance above politics. His administration has consistently pursued policies that improve the welfare of citizens, enhance infrastructure, and create an enabling environment for economic growth. These achievements constitute a strong foundation upon which a national transformation agenda can be built,” Ogedengbe stated.
The Governor’s Aide also noted that recent political developments across the country, including defections, party realignments, and growing voter engagement, present significant opportunities for the APM to expand its national presence and emerge as a major force ahead of the elections.
He expressed confidence that Makinde’s message of inclusion, competence, accountability, and national unity would resonate strongly with Nigerians seeking a new direction for the country.

He has demonstrated an ability to build consensus across the various ethnicities, foster cooperation, and focus on solutions rather than divisions,” Ogedengbe added.
