Afegbua Rates Edo State As Destination For Cultural Ingenuity As He Receives Movie Maker Lancelot Imasuen

The Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, has described Edo State as the hub of cultural ingenuity and creativity in Nigeria.

Prince Afegbua made this assertion when he received a foremost movie producer and filmmaker, Mr. Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, and his team, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Ministry’s headquarters in Benin City.

In a statement made available to newsmen including Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com) on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Aichienede Akhabue Goodluck, the Honorable Commissioner noted that Edo State has gained global prominence largely due to Mr. Lancelot’s immense contributions to the Nigerian movie and film industry.

He further commended the veteran filmmaker for his resilience, creativity, and impactful role in the growth and development of the State and the nation at large.

Prince Afegbua assured Mr. Lancelot of the State Government’s support in promoting Edo’s rich cultural heritage and creative industry to both local and international audiences.

Highlighting some of the State Government’s ongoing initiatives, the Commissioner described the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as a leader endowed with emotional intelligence and a readiness to partner with individuals and organizations committed to the State’s progress.

He urged Mr. Lancelot to remain an active contributor to the governance process and continue creating opportunities for the youth, thereby helping Edo State reclaim its pride of place in Nigeria’s movie and entertainment landscape.

Earlier, Mr. Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen congratulated the Honourable Commissioner on his well-deserved appointment, explaining that the purpose of his visit was to formally inform the Ministry of his upcoming 30th Anniversary Celebration in the movie and film industry.

He revealed that he has produced and directed over 300 films, many of which have earned him and his team numerous local and international awards. Mr. Lancelot also presented the Commissioner with an invitation and program brochure for his anniversary celebration.

Present at the event were the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Rose Imonikhe; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism and Creative Economy, Anto Lecky; the Chairman of the Association of Movie Producers, Edo State Chapter, Mr. Derick Igbinakenzua; as well as Directors and other senior officials of the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
