ADC Vice Presidential Candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, Mourns the Passing of His Mother, Mary

Rotimi Amaechi, Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced the passing of his mother, Mary Amaechi.

In a statement released through his media office, Amaechi—who previously served as Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation—shared that his mother was 89 years old.

He described the late Mrs Amaechi as a cherished matriarch who held her family together in love, peace, and unity.

The statement reads in part: “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of the beloved mother of Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), late Mrs Mary Amaechi, who departed peacefully on Thursday, July 16. She was 89.

“The Late Mrs Mary Amaechi was a cherished matriarch who held her family together in love, peace, and unity. She was a community women’s leader and Christian leader, whose belief and faith in God were firm and resolute.

“She was loved and highly respected in her community and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for those around her and beyond”.
