The Lagos State government has announced a comprehensive traffic diversion plan to enable technical checks, duct calibration, and land route repairs at designated locations on Lagos Island.
According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the repair works will begin on 17 January and are scheduled to conclude on 31 January.
Osiyemi disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, highlighting the affected locations and alternative routes to minimise disruptions.
“The designated locations include Bonny Camp Underbridge to Eko Atlantic Sales Office, Eko Hotel Roundabout, Officer’s Mess inward Independence Bridge, Ajose Adeogun to Ligali Ayorinde, and Ligali Ayorinde to the end of Landmark,” Osiyemi stated.
The commissioner assured motorists that adequate measures have been taken to ensure minimal traffic impact.
“Bonny Camp Underbridge to Eko Atlantic Sales Office will be repaired between 17 January and 31 January, focusing on the road median, which will have no impact on traffic,”
For Eko Hotel Roundabout, scheduled for 19 January, Osiyemi said: “Motorists from Eko Hotel moving towards Adetokunbo Ademola will be diverted into two lanes around the roundabout, which should be maintained for safe and efficient work operations,”
Similarly, repairs at Officer’s Mess inward Independence Bridge, also on 19 January, will necessitate diverting traffic to the two extreme lanes farther from the kerb.
Ajose Adeogun to Ligali Ayorinde will undergo repairs from 20 January to 24 January, during which vehicular traffic will be diverted into two lanes near Ligali Ayorinde Junction inward Oniru Beach due to work on a manhole at the junction.
For Ligali Ayorinde to the end of Landmark, scheduled for 25 January to 31 January, Osiyemi clarified: “The repair work will be carried out on the setback of the road, with no impact on traffic.”
The commissioner assured residents that traffic management officers would be deployed along the routes to ease vehicular movement and reduce inconvenience.
“We urge motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with the traffic management officers during this period.
