Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, has declared that Northern Nigeria is firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, pledging the support of political leaders, traditional rulers, Islamic clerics, and key stakeholders across the region ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Yari made the declaration on Saturday during the official flag-off of the APC’s 2027 presidential campaign in Kaduna, an event attended by President Tinubu, APC governors, party leaders, and thousands of supporters from across the country.

Describing Kaduna as the “spiritual centre of politics in Northern Nigeria,” Yari said the choice of the state as the campaign’s starting point underscored its political significance and the region’s strategic role in the party’s electoral calculations.

He revealed that the APC had embarked on extensive consultations with influential figures across the North, including traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, clerics, and community leaders, to consolidate support for the President’s second-term bid.

“We have engaged our traditional rulers, our ulama, our imams, and critical stakeholders across Northern Nigeria to appreciate the importance of continuity in leadership. We believe President Tinubu’s return in 2027 is vital for sustaining ongoing reforms, strengthening national unity, and preserving peace and stability across the country,” Yari stated.

The former Zamfara State governor expressed confidence that Northern Nigeria would once again deliver overwhelming support for the APC ticket, assuring the President that the region remained committed to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We are solidly behind you in Northern Nigeria, and by the grace of God, we will demonstrate that support at the polls in 2027,” he declared.
Economic Reforms Yielding Results

Defending the administration’s economic policies, Yari argued that although some of the reforms were initially difficult, they were already producing positive outcomes for the nation’s economy.

He cited the removal of fuel subsidy, exchange rate reforms, improved foreign reserves, and the strengthening of the naira as evidence that the government was laying the foundation for long-term economic stability and growth.

According to him, the APC would take its record of performance to Nigerians during the campaign, while highlighting achievements recorded in key sectors of the economy.

“The President took courageous decisions that previous administrations avoided. Today, we are beginning to see encouraging economic indicators that point to a stronger and more resilient economy,” he said.

Tackling Misinformation and Opposition Narratives

Yari also accused opposition elements of deploying digital platforms and emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to spread misinformation about the administration, particularly regarding policies affecting farmers and rural communities.

He urged party supporters to remain vigilant and continue engaging citizens with factual information about government programmes and interventions.
According to him, the APC campaign would focus on presenting verifiable achievements, policy outcomes, and the administration’s plans for the future rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric.

Governors, Stakeholders Rally Behind Tinubu

The APC-PCC Director-General noted that the attendance of governors from across Northern Nigeria, party leaders, elected officials, and grassroots mobilizers reflected the growing momentum behind President Tinubu’s re-election project.

He described the gathering as a demonstration of unity within the ruling party and evidence of widespread confidence in the administration’s leadership.

While reaffirming the North’s support, Yari urged the President to continue listening to the concerns of the region and ensure that governance remains inclusive and responsive to the needs of all Nigerians.
“We encourage Mr President to pay close attention to the aspirations of Northern Nigeria and ensure that justice, fairness, and equity remain central to government policies and programmes,” he said.

APC Eyes Continuity in 2027

The Kaduna campaign launch is widely seen as the formal commencement of the APC’s nationwide push for the 2027 presidential election. With key political leaders closing ranks behind President Tinubu, the ruling party is projecting a message of continuity, stability, and sustained reforms as it seeks another mandate from Nigerians.

For Senator Yari, the overwhelming presence of political stakeholders in Kaduna sends a clear signal that Northern Nigeria remains committed to supporting policies and leadership it believes can deliver lasting development, national cohesion, and economic progress for the country.
